What objects can I use to symbolize Memoirs of a Geisha and how do they relate to the story ?
Need this A.S.A.P.

(Small things that can fit into a paper bag... rock, feather, anything that has to do w/ a geisha or symbolizes someone in the story)

EDIT: I think that Sayuri does represent water in the book. There's a great quote from it:
"Water can carve itsway, even through stone.
And when trapped,water makes a new path.
A little water is good to guard against fire.
Water is powerful. It can wash awayearth, put out fire, and even destroy iron."
So I think something to do with water could be an object for it, or maybe put a little bottle of water in there.
Another theme is the seasons. If you see the film one of the most beautiful scenes is when Sayuri is amongst the cherry blossoms. This is described in the book beautifully as well. So maybe pink petals or something like that or a sweet smelling perfume that reminds you of spring.
To show the change from Chiyo to Sayuri you could use an hourglass. The hourglass can show how short time is (the war) and how quickly it passes.
You could also put in red lip-stick and eyeliner, elegant hair pins to relate to the way they make themselves up in the book.
You could use a match to relate to how Hatsumomo burns down the geisha house.
You could use a fan to relate to the dancing.
A handkerchief to represent Sayuri's love for the Chairman.
An American flag to represent the settlers in Japan after the war.
